We still have a few registrations open for the “KCEE Life Fundamentals” 2008 Financial Literacy Summit—an important discussion on advancing financial education in Kentucky’s schools. Bringing vision and a wealth of experience, business leaders, policy-makers, administrators, and educators will explore what's currently being done to improve financial literacy in Kentucky, what more can be done, and how everyone can participate in and benefit from an increasingly strong economically and financially literate society.

    Summer Workshop for Teachers:  Teaching Economics (Web-Based)

    Graduate credit workshop for teachers of grades K-12 offered by NKU

    This class will help equip teachers with appropriate methods that can be used to teach economics either as an integrated or stand-alone course and to build awareness of materials and resources available to enhance the curriculum.  Participants will develop a teaching unit that can be used in their particular classroom situation.  This is a web-based class that does not require students to attend class on campus.     This course is intended to provide middle- and high-school teachers with content, experiences, and resources they can take into their classrooms and use directly with their students.
    There are essentially three requirements for this course, and you must meet all three in order to pass the class.
    I.  Attend The Right Start:  An Institute for New and Beginning Teachers of Economics, June 9-12 at Rough River State Resort Park, Falls of Rough, Kentucky  
    2.  Attend the Financial Literacy Summit, June 25-26 at the Marriott East Hotel in Louisville

It will take place on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky in Georgetown , KY. Teachers are invited to tap into the natural creativity of their students with fun, hands-on activities that will have their students using a budget to organize a school pizza party, learning how to comparison-shop for a cell phone, and much more.     The Right Start Institute for Economic Education Educators

    KCEE will host this 4-day summer institute of the Foundation for Teaching Economics to allow teachers of economics to identify and learn basic economic content and develop lesson plans for effective teaching high school economics. The Institute incorporates a blend of learning activities, including hands-on classroom activities and simulations. The Foundation for Teaching Economics covers all costs for registration, lodging, materials and some meals.  Apply today for a full scholarship application.

    Bringing Home the Gold:  Financial Fitness Summer Camp for Teens (entering Grades 8-12)
