Citi Foundation has renewed their funding to the Kentucky Council on Economic Education for $50,000 in support of the Leaders Investing in Financial Education (L.I.F.E) program.  The Citi Foundation is fully funded by Citi businesses that include Citibank, CitFinancial, Primerica, Citi Smith Barney and Banamex.

The Kentucky Council on Economic Education has designed a classroom presentation delivered by teams of Citi L.I.F.E. volunteers.  The presentation is offered to schools that are serving low income families.  In 2009, the program titled “Money, Markets and Moguls” will be presented to 50 schools in metro Louisville and northern Kentucky.  The elementary school program addresses the practical living concepts of personal finance--spending, saving, budgeting and the importance of philanthropy as well as concepts of productivity, entrepreneurship and markets.  Teaching basic economics, money management and entrepreneurship through engaging activities in the classroom is the most effective way to reach a maximum number of young people.  Since 2006, the Citi program has been offered to 3,000 students in 110 classrooms.
