KCEE receives grant from Toyota for "Money Math Nights"

Math night is popular with many schools -- how about offering your school a "Money Math Night" for your elementary students and their parents!

KCEE Appoints a New Executive Director

The Kentucky Council on Economic Education is pleased to announce the appointment of the new Executive Director, Kathleen Spencer Cooter, Ph.D, from Bellarmine University.

Kathleen Cooter, Ph.D is Professor of Early Childhood/Special Education. Before joining Bellarmine in 2008, she taught at the University of Memphis and Texas Christian University. She served as Outreach Coordinator for the New Teacher Center at Memphis and directed the teaching and research activities of both TCU's laboratory schools and received awards as a Mortar Board Professor and Employer of the Year AwardŁ for employing adults with Down Syndrome. In December 2003, a new wing to TCU's laboratory school was built and named in her honor. 

Kathy has served as the Bellarmine Center Director since 2008 where she has offered teacher training, the "Poverty Simulation" to 2,000 Kentuckians, and instituted the Kentucky Financial Education Collaborative.  Kathy says that as statewide director, she is "...delighted to move forward the statewide efforts to bring financial and economic literacy to Kentucky students".  She looks forward to "... working with our Centers for Economic Education and partner organizations committed to our same cause -- financially literate citizens - cradle to grave, in Kentucky ".
