Dollars and Sense for Kids...

KCEE proposes an ambitious campaign effort to significantly increase economic and financial literacy in Kentucky schools

The concept is simple, the impact is huge….
a financial literacy advocate in every Kentucky school.

The need for such a concerted effort is urgent; the issue is critical

The spiraling rate of personal bankruptcies and credit card debt; the lack of understanding of the importance of saving and investing; the inability to discern the consequences of powerful international economic changes, or even to know the meaning of "profit," are all evidence that our Commonwealth can no longer afford to make personal finance an option in our schools. Young people entering the workforce cannot function effectively without knowledge of how the world works.

Campaign Promise:  In this 3-year campaign, KCEE will identify and support a designated Financial Literacy Advocate in every Kentucky middle and high school.  The Financial Literacy Advocate will teach economic and personal finance concepts through KCEE programs in their own class and advocate for school involvement. Students will learn the importance of saving and investing for their futures, understanding credit, managing budgets and spending, etc.

One teacher can impact personal finance teaching and learning in an entire school- a significant multiplier effect! Students will learn that financial literacy is important to their success in the everyday business of life !
